Answer
Hi Rob,

Sorry about the long delay in answering your question.

My problem is that while I'm fairly familiar with after-market in-dash A/V and nagivation systems sold in North America, I'm far less knowledgeable about similar systems in the Australian marketplace.  All I can do is look for Australian counterparts to my favorite models found in the U.S.

In order to get all the features you want, you'll most likely need to purchase a basic in-dash audio/video unit and add additional modules for iPod, Bluetooth and navigation functions.  There are all-in-one units that include everything you're looking for, but they're almost invariably double-DIN units.

My favorite brand for in-dash navigation is Kenwood, because they partner with Garmin for their GPS systems, which makes them very easy to use compared with some other brands.  In your area, you might want to look for a KVT-636DVD head unit.  This model includes a rear USB connection that will work with your iPhone for music playback; if you're interested in video playback from your iPhone through the KVT-636DVD's monitor, you'd need a KCA-iP301V adapter cable.  Navigation can be added using the KNA-G431AU hideaway navigation module.  The Kenwood A/V head unit is designed with navigation in mind, even though it's not built-in. Bluetooth hands-free functions are available with a KCA-BT300 adapter.  Note that while this gives you hands-free phone functionality, it doesn't include Bluetooth audio streaming.

The KVT-636DVD should include an input for a wired remote system.  This can be used with an external adapter to allow use of your steering wheel controls with the new head unit.  Kenwood doesn't make the adapter; these are generally available from PAC Audio (model SWI-JACK) or Metra (ASWC).  I'm not sure of the availability of these adapters in your area, however.  Note that you'd need a 3rd-party adapter for steering wheel control of just about any after-market head unit you buy--none of them will be directly compatible with your vehicle's steering wheel control output.

You can get more information about the Kenwood system here:

Some other systems you might want to check out are made by Clarion and Alpine.  Again, you'd need to start with a basic in-dash A/V unit, and buy additional accessories for Bluetooth, navigation and iPod functions.
