Car Stereos: Jeep Liberty stereo install, infinty speakers, infinity sound

Question
I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty with 6 speakers.  I installed a Kenwood stereo in it but I am getting no sound.  It has power as all the lights are on.  It appears all wires have been attached correctly.  Could this have anything to do with the infinty speakers, if that is what they are?  What am I missing?

Answer
Hi Russ,

If your Liberty is equipped with an Infinity sound system, then it includes factory amplifiers that will need to be activated by your after-market deck.  This is done by connecting the amplifier activation wire in the factory radio plug to the Kenwood deck's blue/white remote output wire.

If you're using an adapter harness, take a look at the factory radio plug.  Look for a wire in the factory plug that's yellow with a red stripe.  Which wire in your adapter harness lines up with this yellow/red wire?  My guess is that it's a blue wire, and that it's connected to a blue wire at the Kenwood deck harness; but I may be wrong.  In any case, the yellow/red factory wire needs to be connected, through the adapter harness, to the blue/white wire in the Kenwood plug.  This should activate the factory amplifiers and get your sound working.  If it turns out that the yellow/red wire is pinned to the solid blue wire in the adapter harness, you need to disconnect this wire from the Kenwood deck's blue wire, and connect it to the Kenwood blue/white wire instead.

Hope this helps!
