Answer
Hello Marty,

I am sorry to hear about this. The answer to do is yes…. Maybe. You are entitled to get a rental car. However, insurance companies cut your rental car not when you settle, but few days the car is determined a total loss. Some states require at least three days, some others as little as one. In addition, some states require that the rental be caught off once an offer is made. Therefore, it depends on your state.

You can contact the office of insurance of your state. Also, I suggest you get this eBook, it is cheap ($15) and it can really teach you how to get a good settlement for your car and rental expenses.
