Answer
Hi Mandy,

I apologize for the delay in answering your question.

The alternator whine that you're describing has a number of possible causes, so it's not likely that I'll be able to solve it for you without inspecting the vehicle more closely.  From your description, I'm assuming that you're not using any external amplifiers to drive your speakers, and that the unwanted sound is being produced only by the rear speakers.

It's possible that your vehicle includes a factory amplifier for the rear speakers, while the front speakers are driven directly from the head unit's outputs.  This isn't an uncommon design in OEM audio systems.  In this case, your problem might be caused by a defective factory amplifier, or an improper integration between the factory amp and the head unit.  You might be able to solve the problem by bypassing the amplifier and connecting your rear speakers directly to the head unit's outputs.  I can't say how likely this scenario is without knowing more about your vehicle.

Alternator whine can also be caused by a worn out battery, loose or corroded battery terminal connections, or a failing alternator, among other possible causes.

Hope this helps!

Brian
