Car Stereos: CD Player, gm dealer, factory radio

Question
I purchased a factory AM/FM CD Player from a 2005 Silverado. I removed the AM/FM from my 2006 and after changing it I turned the ignition on and the player says locked. What do I do now?

Answer
Hi Michael,

You're going to have to visit a GM dealer.  The factory radio in a 2003+ Silverado uses an anti-theft system called Theftlock.  In this vehicle, the radio can communicate directly with the vehicle through the data bus system.  It can detect if it's been moved into a different vehicle, and it won't work unless it's reset by a dealer.

Sorry I can't be more helpful!
