Car Stereos: loc, line output converter, gm vehicle

Question
i have a stock 07 impala and i bought a line out converter from axxes its a 2 channel converter .  i know how to hook everything up except it has a remote 2 grounds and a 12 volt power...do i have to hook up the power remote and grounds for it to work and if it will work without them will it cause any damage to my car or amp later down the road?

Answer
Hi Trevor,

It sounds like your line output converter has a remote trigger feature.  This means it can generate a remote output voltage, for activating your amplifier, whenever it receives an audio signal through the speaker wire inputs.  This is a handy feature in a newer GM vehicle, because you don't need to look for a key-switched power wire to turn your amplifier on and off.

If you choose not to use the remote trigger feature, then you don't need to connect the power, remote or ground wire connections on the line output converter.  Leaving them disconnected won't cause any problems with the vehicle, audio system, or converter.

Hope this helps!
