Audio Systems: 1980 Fiat Spider radio replacement, fiat spider, cd mp3 player

Question
I just bought a 1980 Fiat Spider and want to upgrade the
factory-installed radio to a CD/MP3 player with a detachable
face.  First off, i can't seem to find any instructions on the web
about how to get the darned thing out of the car.  Second,
choosing a new stereo seems more complex than i imagined.
From what I'm beling led to believe, not every regular-sized
stereo will 'fit' my car.  Is this true, and if so, how come?  Finally,
Will I require any kind of installation kit to go along with the
stereo?  Thanks!!! Chris

Answer
Chris,
You may want to purchase a repair book for your vehicle, this book will show you how to remove the factory stereo and speakers if you need/want to. Once you have the original stereo out of the dash you should measure the width, heigth and depth of the hole. These measurements should give you an idea of what size after market stereo that you can install in the vehicle. As far as the connections go, you will need the adapter connector that plugs onto the factory connector so that you can easily connect the new stereo to the factory wires.
