Car Stereos: axxess adct2 LOC install, pontiac g5, stock headunit

Question
Quite simply, installed an Axxess ADCT2 Line out converter to a 2009 Pontiac
G5 stock headunit in order to send signal to amp/sub package. I decided to
tap the front speaker wires to send the signals to the woofers, grounded the
LOC, and am having some after thoughts on where I powered it up;
Specifically, I connected the yellow wire to the 12v at the radio harness. The
install directions didn't specify switched or constant 12v power so I didn't pay
much mind to it. Everything works fine after a day-- the unit transfers signal
to the amp/subs, the relay detects speaker use to turn the sub on/off, factory
radio stays on until the door opens like its supposed to, etc. My question is,
am I alright tapping the 12v constant power wire at the radio harness or is
this going to cause a battery depletion problem?

Answer
Hi Robert,

Given that the converter is working properly, then there's no problem connecting it to a constant power source; that's exactly what it's designed for.  I've seen issues with this particular converter where it doesn't shut off after the radio is powered off.  That's something to keep an eye on; you might want to double-check, a few minutes after you turn off the radio, to make sure that the amplifier has powered down properly.  If it's turning off like it's supposed to, though, then I wouldn't be too worried about the power connection.

Hope this helps!
