Car Stereos: wiring harness, chevy tahoe, 2004 chevy tahoe

Question
my aftermarket stereo wont turn off when i turn the key off in my 2004 Chevy Tahoe i connected yellow and red together because it wouldn't turn on any other way is there a cable i can connect my red wire to behind the dash wire harness rigging it since i don't have a red wire to connect to in the after market wire harness

Answer
It won't turn off because you hooked the yellow to the red (but I understand the need for music). I've done the same thing in the past just to have some beats.

You have a couple options that you can do...

Unfortunately, the Tahoe doesn't have a wire for switched power source behind the radio.

1. You can run a wire from an ignition power source (i.e. ignition switch, lighter switch, fuse box, etc) to the red wire on your radio for it to work like normal. This is how a shop would most likely do it.

2. If you don't want to (or can't) go that route, you could always buy a small switch from Autozone (or similar) and place it between the yellow/red splice (on the red wire) and the radio, then keep it close to you. It's an annoying way to run a radio, but it will keep you on your toes until #1 can get done.

Hopefully that helps man. Let me know if you need any more assistance.
