Car Stereos: Stereo on my boat, fader control, rca output

Question
I recently purchased some new stereo equipment for my boat. There were only speaker mounts in the back of the boat so i purchased a pair of 6.5in component speakers. In the nose of the boat there were no mounts so i purchased a powered dual 6 inch subwoofer unit. Should i input my component speakers into my decks front or rear speaker inputs. Also i assume i should be plugging the Subs RCA into the decks Sub RCA output (there is also a separate rear rca output)

Answer
Hi Michael,

It really doesn't matter whether you use the front or rear speaker outputs to drive your speakers.  The only time this will matter is when you're using the head unit's "fader" control; since you have only one pair of speakers, you're not likely to be adjusting the fader in any case.  If there's any possibility that you'll be installing another pair of speakers in the front, then you might want to use the rear outputs for the current pair so that your fader works correctly later.  Otherwise, there's no difference between the front and rear outputs.

If you use the subwoofer outputs to connect your powered sub, then the fader control won't affect the subwoofer output, and you'll be able to use the head unit's built-in subwoofer volume control.

Hope this helps!
