Car Stereos: fujitsu ten receiver, jean answer, fuse box

Question
QUESTION: our unit quite working , was told probably a fuse if so where is it located

ANSWER: The fuse would be located under the dash on the driver's side.  It is a black block with a whole bunch of colored plastic pieces on it.  One of those plastic things is the fuse for the radio.  Figure out which one it is and replace it with one that is the same color and has the same number on it.  They just pull straight out and push straight in.  Hope this helps, Scott

QUESTION: Hello Scott, Thanks for the answer, but I forgot tomention that my recevier is located on a wall in our 5th wheel. Now where would I locate the fuse?   jean

ANSWER: There should be a control panel that runs the various electrical components in the camper.  Most times, it is on the side of a cabinet.  The fuse box should be located directly behind that control panel in the cabinet.  It should be a small black box.  If it is not located there, then it will be located in an outside compartment, behind the pump control panel.  Good LUck, Scott

QUESTION: Hello Scott, found the fuse but that does not seem to be the problem , what next?  thanks jean

Answer
If the radio powers on, but does not make sound, there may be a short in one of the speaker wires.  The problem is, in that scenerio, the short caused the problem, but the radio has suffered the damage.  The radio will need to be repaired, and the short will need to be found.  If you find the short and fix it, you will still need repair the radio.  If the radio does not show any signs of powering up (no lights, clock, stations, etc), the problem may not be in the sound system at all.  The power wire where the fuse is located, will need to be tested for power, and be sure it is receiving at least 12 volts.  If there are no signs of life in the radio, it probably is not receiving any power.  It must have power going to the red wire and the yellow wire.  The black ground wire must be attached nearby to a piece of metal.  Checking this stuff, should lead you to your problem.  Good Luck, Scott
