Car Stereos: Dash stereo power conection, satellite radios, alpine stereo

I just bought a 2001 camper van on the Dodge 3500 van chasis. The previous owner put in an Alpine stereo with cd player but the unit wasn't working. I pulled the stereo out and found, what I believe, is the power supply not hooked up. The van wiring in the area of the stereo is a square connector and coming out of the stereo is a round female connector with 4 or 5 pins. Do I need an adaptor?

Hi Paul,

The connector you're seeing in the deck is likely an accessory hookup for things like CD changers, satellite radios, etc.

Look elsewhere on the back of the deck; there should be a series of pins that need a harness.

You'll likely need an adapter and some solder to get it together and installed.
