Pontiac Repair: pontiac dies while running, pontiac bonneville, fuel pump

hi, my 1994 pontiac bonneville se dies while running and the service engine soon turns on. when it dies the lights and everything else keeps working good.after it dies it turns on right away without problems, could it be the fuel pump?

Does the service engine soon lmap come on before the car dies out or does it come on once it quits running.. does it restart right back up maning it doesn't labor at all. You said it starts right back up butr does it labor or have a long cranking time? When it dies does it buck stumble and cugh or is it just like someone turns the key off and it dies? It makes a difference as to which way to apprach the problem here. I'm thinking an ignition system issue here but what happenes when it dies will verify which way to go.
