Car Stereos: kickers and mono amp, mono amp, voice coils

QUESTION: i have two kickers , i believe there 2000s and powerbass asa 2000 amp i was wordering if you could help me figure out how to hook them up correctly. the amp breaks down to one ohm

ANSWER: Jesse, the best way to wire it up is to attach the right sub to the right channel and the left sub to the left channel.  That will give you plenty of power and will last a long time.  Hope this helps, Scott

ok, so, you would wire the voice coils of each sub in series.  That means connect a wire from the negative of one coil to the positive of the other coil.  Then connect the remaining connections to the amp.  Same with the other sub,  Connect the positive wire from each sub to each other, then connect to the amp positive, and same with the negative.  That is Parallel wiring.  The two types of wiring put together makes your system resistance the same as a single voice coil, which is pefectly safe for your amp.  Good Luck, Scott
