Car Stereos: 1997 Lexus 300ES Premium Sound Heat Unit, ebay sellers, lexus cars

My son just purchased a 97 Lexus 300ES.  Premium sound with in dash cassette and 6 CD changer in glove box.  The light indicators do not work; so we do not see stations numbers and the indicators for what buttons do what. So we have to use our imagination to change stations and select CDs.  However, the system, other then the display, works fine.  At night, the back light of the screen comes on.  Guess we cannot repair light indicator?  If not, we need to get another head unit.  Can we get these used?  If so, any suggestions where? Would appreciate your advise.

John, I would suggest ebay, if you are not afraid to do business online.  Most ebay sellers are reputable and will tell you the condition of the unit.  If you would prefer to buy locally, you can call around any fairly large city to auto salvage lots.  Look up auto salvage in your yellow pages.  There should be a local salvage yard that handles lexus cars, and they will have used headunits for very reasonable prices.  Also, your radio can be repaired at an electronic repair shop, and the cost would probably be around $100.  Hope this helps, Scott
