Car Stereos: Car Stereo, side speakers, factory radio

The right side speakers on my 01 corolla just suddenly stopped working, both front and rear. I was using it one moment and even before i turned off the car i noticed the sound from the right side just stopped. Its completely stock its even a tape player not a cd player on there.

Hi James,

From what you're describing, it sounds like there's an internal problem with the head unit.  I don't think you're dealing with a loose wire or defective speakers, assuming that both speakers failed at exactly the same time.  Of course, it's possible that that rear speaker failed earlier, and you didn't notice until the front speaker failed as well;  most people won't notice if a single rear speaker stops working, as long as the other speakers continue to play normally.  If the speakers failed at different times, then you probably need new speakers; if you're certain that both speakers stopped working simultaneously, then the factory radio is probably the cause.
