Car Stereos: sound, chevy caprice, amp trigger

I have a 91 Chevy caprice and im put a sony deck in and i have FM and Am speaker sound but I don't have CD sound when i push....

Hi Theo,

Usually when you're getting audio with AM/FM radio, but no sound with a CD, then it's usually related to a factory amplifier (or an after-market amplifier).  A 91 Caprice shouldn't have a factory amplifier unless it's equipped with a Bose system.  If so, you'd need to use some sort of premium sound adapter when you're using an after-market head unit with the Bose amps.

If you're getting good sound with AM/FM, and none with CD, then you can try switching the amp trigger wire.  Take a look at the wiring behind the head unit, and find out what's connected to the blue wire coming from the Sony deck.  Disconnect whatever you have connected to the blue wire, and switch it to the blue/white wire instead.  If it's an amplifier activation issue, this should solve the problem.
