Car Stereos: IPhone connect to car audio, headphone jack, rca plugs

Question
I have a 2007 Sequoia with a built in DVD player.  It is equipped with aux plugs and an outlet.  I plugged in the three-pronged wire into the appropriate plugs and connected to the power source.  How do I get the music from my iPod on my iPhone to play through the car speakers???

Answer
Hi Lisa,

Unfortunately, I'm not really familiar with the setup of the DVD player in a Sequoia.  If I understand you correctly, the DVD player has an auxiliary input which consists of three jacks: yellow, white and red.  Is this correct?

If so, then you'll need an iPhone Y-adapter cable, that connects to your iPhone's headphone jack and splits it to two RCA plugs.   You'll want to get one that's made specifically for the iPhone (in fact, your iPhone may have come with one).  The two plugs should connect to the red and white inputs on the DVD player, and the other end will connect to your iPhone's headphone jack.  Then you just select the auxiliary source on the DVD player, and select the DVD player as a source on your head unit.  The power connector doesn't need to be used, or you can just use the car charger made for the iPhone.

It's possible that this answer won't make any sense to you, because I may not correctly understand the auxiliary input on your DVD player.  If so, please follow up with more details (or with a picture attached) and I'll try to give you a better answer.

Hope this helps!
