Car Stereos: Overheating?, loose ground, air blow

Question
I installed a new stereo in my dakota, the stereo works fine for a while then shuts off.  I think it is overheating, I then turn off the heat in the truck and put the window down and it powers back on.  Again I turn the heat on and seconds later it shuts off, turn the heat off and it turns back on.  Is this the case or could there be a loose ground?  If it is overheating how can I correct this problem?

Answer
Jonathan, If the shutting off only occurs when the heat is on, then it is probably getting overheated.  To repair the problem, you need to remove the unit and check the duct work behind the radio.  There is probably a hole or crack behind there that is letting the hot air blow directly over the radio.  Just repair any existing problem, and the radio should work fine.  Hope this helps, Scott
