how many watts does the amp have? and i want to replace the subwoofer in the third row which is 8 inches i think. how  do i take it out? i took out the panel and un screwed the speaker and it wont come out. iv also been looking into the mtx 5500 thunder subwoofer. good brand or ?

Hi Mike,

Sorry, I don't know the power output of the factory subwoofer amplifier; OEM manufacturers don't generally provide this information (except for a general system wattage rating used for marketing). If I had to guess, I'd say the stock subwoofer runs on about 50 watts RMS or less.  It's really not comparable to a typical after-market subwoofer system.

To remove the sub in this vehicle, you need to pull the whole side panel and remove the sub enclosure.  There's a screw at the rear of the enclosure that goes into the back of the subwoofer. This makes it impossible to remove the sub without access to the rear of the enclosure.

I haven't personally used the MTX subs, but I don't have any problem with the brand.  I suspect the 8" 5500 sub might need more air space than you'll find in the factory sub enclosure, though.
