Car Stereos: kenwood kdc-mp535u, power antenna, listening to the radio

I just installed this cd player into my 97 stratus. The tuner works great, but when trying to listen to a CD or USB, sound only comes from the dashboard tweeters. Do you think the radio is defective?

Hi Jimmy,

Make sure the BLUE wire from your Chrysler adapter harness is connected to the BLUE/WHITE wire from the Kenwood head unit.  This should solve your problem.

This issue is that your Stratus includes a factory amplifier, which is activated through the blue wire in the harness.  However, the blue wire on the Kenwood deck is a power antenna output, so it's only turning the amp on when you're listening to the radio.  The blue/white wire is the true remote output, so it will keep the factory amp working all the time.
