Car Stereos: CAR STEREO, needle nose pliers, reset button

Question
My car stereo has a CD stuck in it

Answer
Hi Alicia,

If it's an after-market deck, look for a recessed "reset" button on the front faceplate, or on the front of the deck with the faceplate removed.  Often a CD that won't eject will come out when you reset the deck.  If you can't find a reset button, you can find the vehicle's radio memory fuse and remove it for a few minutes.

If it's a factory deck, you can still try removing the fuse or even disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.  If the deck is attempting to eject the CD, but it's just not coming out all the way, you can usually remove the CD with a set of needle-nose pliers or forceps.  It might help if you can remove the deck from the vehicle and take off the front faceplate to give yourself more space to grip the CD.

If the deck isn't trying to eject, and a reset doesn't fix it, then you'll need to have the unit serviced.

Good luck!
