Car Stereos: VRCD400SDU clock and presets reset, grand marquis, purple light

Question
When the ignition is off every time I remove the faceplate the clock and presets reset. If I leave the faceplate on overnight or for any period of time there is no problem. But the second I take it off and put it back with the ignition off there is no clock and no presets. But it does remember what cd track I was listening previously. The yellow wire is connected to the constant v12+ which is the purple/light blue for my 2002 Grand Marquis. Maybe its just the faceplate that is faulty.

Answer
Liliana, It does sound like some type of malfunction with the radio.  I wonder if it resets when the faceplate is removed while the car is still on.  If the presets are lost during the removal and replacement with the power on, then I would definitely say it is the radio.  If they are not lost, there possible could be some sort of wiring issue.  Either way, it would require removing the radio and reinstalling it.  Hope this helps, Scott
