Car Stereos: chevy silverado 2002 stock stereo, car audio forum, chevy silverado

Question
The stereo in my 2002 Chevy Silverado has a theftlock feature. The feature is optional and I have never used it. The problem is when battery power to the stereo is disconnected this theftlock feature engages automatically, requireing a code to unlock it. I do not have this code because I purchased the truck used. Is there a default code or a bypass code that will unlock my stereo?
Thanks,
Frederick Kizina

Answer
Hi Frederick,

Here's a link to a car audio forum post:

http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Board=8&Number=1261244&...

This includes details for re-activating the radio, as well as disabling the Theftlock function completely so that you don't need to find the code next time you disconnect the battery.  I haven't had the need to use this information personally, but I've been told that it's effective.

Hope this helps!
