Car Stereos: subwoofers, watts rms, amp output

Question
I have a pioneer GM-5200T amp and two 10' Apline subs. I want to upgrade to bigger subs and i'm not sure if my amp will be able to hold bigger subs. What is the largest set of subwoofers that I can hook up to the pioneer GM-5200T

Answer
Steve, You can hook up any size subs to your amp.  They will not be any louder than your current subs until you buy a bigger amp.  The amp puts out the power, and the sub just has to be able to handle the power that is put out by the amp.  Tha amp output is stated in so many watts RMS per channel at so many ohms.  You want to make sure your subs are that number of ohms and the same or larger in RMS watts.  If the subs are less RMS watts than the amp, you run the risk of blowing up the subs.  Hope this helps, Scott
