Car Stereos: no sound for usb or cd!, power antenna, antenna wire

I just instaled my new kentwood deck into my 98 jeep and the raido works but when I put in a cd or hook up my ipod sound doesn't work...

Hi Nicole,

I'm betting your Jeep is equipped with a factory Infinity audio system.

Here's the fix:

Pull out the deck.  Disconnect whatever you have attached to the BLUE wire in the Kenwood harness.   Re-connect it to the BLUE/WHITE wire instead.

There's a wire in your factory plug that activates the Infinity amplifier.  If you're using an adapter harness, the amp activation wire is usually connected to a blue wire in the harness.  However, if you connect this to the blue wire in your Kenwood deck, the Infinity amplifier will only come on when you select the Tuner as your audio source.  This is because the blue wire in a Kenwood harness is a power antenna wire, not an amp turn-on wire.

The blue/white wire in the Kenwood harness is the amp turn-on wire.  Therefore, the blue/white Kenwood wire should be connected to the blue wire in the adapter harness.  The blue Kenwood wire shouldn't be connected to anything in your Jeep; just tape it off.
