Car Stereos: car stereo, 2006 nissan titan, nissan titan

Question
i have a 2006 nissan titan and i want to put an amp and subs in it, the truck still has the stock head unit(the one without the stock sub) and i don't want to replace it. who do i wire the amp to the stock head unit?

Answer
Hi Jordan,

The factory radio does not have RCA outputs for connecting an amplifier, so you'll need either an amplifier with high-level (also called speaker-level) inputs, or you'll need a device called a line output converter.  In either case, you'll need to tap into the factory speaker wiring to get an audio signal for the amp.

The most convenient place to find the speaker wires is the rear of the factory radio.  The speaker wire colors should be as follows:

Front left +  Blue/white
Front left -  Blue/red
Front right +  White/black
Front right -  Blue/black

Rear left +  Light blue
Rear left -  Black/yellow
Rear right +  Orange/blue
Rear right -  Red/blue

This document (PDF) includes instructions for removing the factory radio:

Hope this helps!
