Car Stereos: cd player, cd laser, stereo shop

Hi Scott I got question about my cd player in my BMW it will not read properly it jumps and it skips each track. This started happing after I disconnected my ground wire from my battery and when I connected it back on it started happening what to do?? is there a reset button???

Javi,  It sounds like maybe two problems happened at the same time.  If the skipping has something to do with the battery being disconnected, you should call your local dealer and get some more information from them.  Otherwise, I would suggest that the skipping and battery disconnect are unrelated.  Your cd laser may need to be cleaned.  The problem is there are not any really good laser cleaners out there.  It may do the trick, but also, you may need to have the laser professionally cleaned.  I would check with a local stereo shop to see if they can clean the lens with the radio still in the car.  Otherwise, you will need to remove the radio and take it to an electronics repair shop and they will clean it for you.  Hope this helps, Scott
