Car Stereos: hooking up my amp, pontiac g5, line output converter

Question
I have a 2009 pontiac g5 and I want to install my 500 watt 12 inch sub to a 600 watt amp. Is there any way I can hook this up without having to take out my factory radio because I really don't want to rip out almost the whole dash to get to the wires I have 2 6x9 in trunk 2 5 1/4 in back seats and 2 amplified tweeters up front

Answer
Hi Lynn,

If you're using the amplifier with the factory radio, it should be fairly simple to connect it without taking the dash apart.

You'll need to use either a line output converter, or the high level inputs on your amplifier (if equipped).  Either way, you'll need to make connections to the factory speaker wires; and you should be able to find the wires you need at the rear speakers in the trunk.  The left speaker should have a dark brown positive wire, and a yellow negative; the right speaker wires will be dark blue positive, and light blue negative.  The line output converter can be connected directly to these wires.

You'll also need to find a switched voltage source for the amp's remote terminal.  You should be able to find this at the fuse box, on the passenger side of the center console.

Hope this helps!
