Car Stereos: Car Cd Player & Amp, car cd player, rca output


Question
okay i got a new car and it has a alpine cd player in it.

i got my amp and subs hooked up and when i turn the cd player up to 1 the subs hit like there on volume 20, kinda like there hooked up backwords i adjusted the settings on the amp i even tryed another amp and it does it so what could be the problem.

if i hook rca's up to the amp then plug it in 2 my laptop it doesnt do it like that only when its hooked up the cd player.

It definitely sounds like there's a problem with the head unit.  I'm curious whether you're hearing the actual audio signal, at a high level, or just random noise; but either way it sounds like your deck's RCA output has a problem.  If the head unit has more than one set of RCA jacks, you can try switching to a different set; if that doesn't work, you'll either need to use a line-output converter, and connect it to the speaker outputs to get an audio signal to the amp, or you'll need to repair or replace the head unit.
