Car Stereos: Power and Ground, blown fuse, deck lights


Question
Hi i was pulling out the wires of my amp to clean it all up and the power and the ground touched and sparked up and now nothing turns on the deck lights up but nothing and theres no power to the amp

Lawrence, That is bad.  Check everywhere for a blown fuse.  I think you will find one somewhere.  If you do not find a blown fuse, it may be a fried wire, which is much harder to find.  If you are sure it was only the ground and power wires that touched, and not the remote wire, you should find your problem that way.  If the remote wire touched, and it is connected to the stereo (antenna lead or remote lead), you may have burned something up inside the stereo, and it will need to be repaired professionally.  When hooking up a remote wire for an amplifier, you should always run off the same wire you use to turn the radio on.  Hope this helps, Scott
