Car Stereos: Line output converter, david navone, rockford corp

Question
I have a 1998 chevy suburban and I want to run an amp to a sub from my stock deck. The amp is the Kenwood Excelon X1200m, and I was wondering what LOC would best suit this setup. I am willing to pay for the best, but does this matter for an LOC? I just need one output as this will be one sub. What LOC do you suggest? And where to buy from?

Thank you!

Answer
Hi Jimmy,

Even though you're running only a single subwoofer, you'll still want to use a 2-channel LOC; the amplifier will take care of combining the left and right channels into a single mono subwoofer output.  Beyond that, there are a wide variety of LOC's that will work very well for your application.  The main feature I'd look for is the ability to adjust the LOC's output level.  Here are some LOC models that should work very well for you:

--Rockford Corp's IECAULOC (sold under the "Install Edge" brand name)
--David Navone's NE-7V or N-RHL2 (available at davidnavone.com)
--PAC's SNI35 or SNI45T

The N-RHL2 and SNI45T also include a remote turn-on trigger that can activate your factory amplifier when they sense an audio signal on the speaker wires.  This can simplify the installation, since you don't need to find a place to tap your amp's remote wire.

Hope this helps!
