Question
QUESTION: hey scott i purchased a new vr3 stereo product number vr500cs-bt and took out the old chevy stereo to notice the male piece of my antenna wire is way to small o fit into the antenna socket on the vr3 stereo. how can i rig the wire or switch wires to get a new male piece connected to the antenna wire to make it fit? and where could i purchase this?

ANSWER: You can purchase an adapter cable that is about 6 inches long with the small plug on one end and the larger plug on the other end.  You can get it at any car stereo retailer, because it is needed for any GM car from the past few years.  Hope this helps, Scott

QUESTION: okay now scott my problem is im positive i hooked everything up right it worked for about half an hour then i think one of the wires touched and blew my fuses, i changed the fuses taped all the wires they're all the same but now only the lcd comes on when my lights are on but no power no stations and no blinking red light this was for the vr500cs-bt

Answer
Oh bummer.  That may not be a good thing.  If there was a short in a power wire, and you replaced any blown fuses, the internal amplifier may have been shorted.  The only fix is to have it repaired.  A local repair shop should be able to make the repair for about $50 if you bring in just the radio.  First, I would double check all the fuses.  If they are all good, you can take it to an install shop, and they can check and see if it works or not (usually for free).  Then, if it isn't working, just take it to the repair shop.  If you start at the repair shop, he will charge to test it, so I would start at the install shop, first.  Sorry I don't have good news.  Shorts are electronics killers.  Good Luck, Scott
