Car Stereos: 2005 Crossfire Infinty Stereos, chrysler vehicle, nothing on the radio

Question
I just bought this car and the stereo works sometimes. The volume
will not work,it stays on the last setting that I was using when I get out of the car. I can't turn it up or down and nothing on the radio works. But sometimes it works just fine.

Thanks Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

It certainly sounds like there's an internal defect with the head unit.  The Crossfire's audio system isn't very similar to any other Chrysler vehicle, and I don't have much personal experience with them; so I don't have anything to suggest that will fix your factory system.   However, it looks like it would be fairly easy to install an after-market head unit that will work with the factory amplifiers and speakers, if you use the right adapter harness and antenna adapter.

If you decide to replace the stock radio with an after-market CD player, you'll need a Metra 70-1786 adapter harness, and a 40-EU10 antenna adapter.  You shouldn't need any mounting kit, as the factory radio size is the same as a standard DIN after-market deck.

Hope this helps!
