Car Stereos: Amperage draw of memory feed, amp max, memory circuit

Question
QUESTION: I have a Sony MEX-BT2600 stereo that I installed and was wondering what the amperage draw should be on the memory circuit that is live all of he time?  Mine is drawing .12 amps with the key and all accessories turned off.

Thanks,

John

ANSWER: Hi John,

Being a 12V circuit, .12 amps would be 1.44 watts, which is more than acceptable for the device to draw to maintain the clock, your presets, saved settings, current CD location, etc.

QUESTION: What would an acceptable amount of draw?

Answer
I'd imagine 3 or 4 watts would be the maximum necessary since it shouldn't be doing much else (it also has to be 'soft on' if it supports ejecting the CD when not powered on, or anything like that), so something like up to half an amp max would probably not be unreasonable.
