Car Stereos: Car Stereo Problem, radio station frequency, internal amplifier

I have an aftermarket FM radio and CD Player in my 1998 Dodge Stratus and today , while driving on the highway, windows down so volume was up, the sound quit and digital timer kept counting (and the radio station frequency lit up). Any ideas?

Hi Danny,

If everything else kept working, but you lost sound, you've either blown a fuse (many decks have a fuse in the back of them that fuses the internal amplifier).  Otherwise, you've fried the deck.  Check for a small fuse in the back of the deck first, though.

Also leave it off for a while (as you no doubt have by now).  If it overheated, it may have just cut out aswell.
