Car Stereos: New Deck for 80 Corvette, inline fuse, analog radio

Question
I just purchased a JVC kdhdr50 deck to install in my wife's 80 Corvette, I also purchased a GM harness to make the installation easier.  All of the wires match up except the yellow wire, it shows as a wire to the hot side of the fuse panes (I assume to power the memeory which was not an issue on the old analog radio)  Must this wire be connected?  If so how and where do I connect this wire?
Thanks,
Dan

Answer
Dan, yes that wire is fairly important.  The color is different though.  Usually, the new radios have a red wire for constant power (ie the memory) and a yellow switched wire (for turning the radio on).  The wire in the car should be the switched power wire for the yellow wire.  The red wire should be connected to a constant power supply.  There are two ways to do that.  First, run a wire all the way to the battery and connect it to the battery, with an inline fuse to protect the battery from shorts.  Or, they make a fuseblock adapter that plugs into your fuseblock, and the fuses plug into it.  One fuse to replace the fuse that is being plugged into and another fuse for the lead wire that you will connect to your radio.  You will need to have the key out of the car and check the fuses for one that is still getting power for a constant power supply.  Hope this helps, Scott
