what name brand subwoofer can i replace in my car that will work with a bose stereo system, besides a bose subwoofer?

Will, If I knew your make and model, I could be sure of replacement.  However, in most cases, you can replace the OEM sub with whatever sub brand you want to.  The only problem is some times there is a problem with fitment.  Many times they make OEM speakers slightly bigger or smaller than what is available in the aftermarket, so you cannot just bolt something new in.  So, be ready to adapt the enclosure or build a new one.  As for a good replacement, I would suggest INfinity or Alpine at the OEM sound level.  If you are upgrading amps and power, you can try JL Audio or Polk Audio that will handle more power.  Hope this helps, Scott
