Car Stereos: 2002 ford taurus aftermarket install, mercury sable, ford taurus

Question
I am going to install a virtual sound labs VR3 400/500 sdu deck into my 2002 ford taurus. I am going to purchase a Radio mounting dash kit
Ford Taurus 00-03/Mercury Sable 00-03 without Electronic Climate Controls; Comes complete with harness and antenna extension to run to trunk, uses factory spring clips, uses factory heater and A/C controls
also Ford Radio Removal Tools.
My question is do I need or is there available another wiring harness for behind the stereo to hook up the power lines etc.? If so could you give me a web site address?
thank you

Answer
Hi Tim,

The kit you purchased should include all the wiring you need.  It shouldn't be necessary to purchase any other adapters or harnesses.  You'll need to splice the wiring that came with  your new head unit to the wiring included with the mounting kit.  You can use solderless crimp-type connectors, or solder and tape the connections; don't use wire nuts.

Be sure to read the kit instructions completely before you start the installation.  Installing an after-market head unit in these vehicles isn't difficult, but it's quite a bit different from most other vehicles.

Hope this helps!
