Car Stereos: `BOSE stereo on 1997 infiniti I30, inifinity, volume key

OKay, so the volume key on my BOSE stereo on my Inifinity doesn't work. If i turn the volume knob to the right, instead of volume increasing higher, it can go either lower, to really loud, or to nothing, and its the same if i turn the knob to the left, its really annoying. Is there anything I can do to fix this and will it be pricy? or can you recommend me any new in dash decks that fit my car?

Some decks do this only when they're cold -- does it do this once the car is fully up to temperature and warm inside?

If so, your only real bet is to replace the deck if you don't have a remote with it.

I'd suggest replacing with an aftermarket deck.  The price of the aftermarket deck including factory amplifier integration hardware and harnesses would still likely cost less than an OEM replacement (unless you can find one at a wrecker or on eBay).

For fitment, go to http://www.crutchfield.com/ -- they'll even include most of your installation hardware if you buy one of their decks.
