Car Stereos: Envoy Denali touch screen radio with no display, envoy denali, battery terminal

Question
My mother was changing the time on the her car radio and rather than pressing the 'Band' button to finish what she had done, she pushed the 'Hide Display' button on the touch screen radio.  Needless to say, the only thing that displays now is the time.  The radio is inoperable and even when a CD is inserted, nothing is displayed.  How can the display be reactivated?

Thank you,
Erica Walker

Answer
Hi Erica,

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on this particular problem.  My expertise is more with after-market audio equipment than factory systems.  If it's a common problem, it's likely that your dealer's service department can tell you how to fix it quickly; or they may have a procedure to "reset" the system.  (Just about all after-market head units have a reset function; it's similar to re-booting a computer when it freezes).  Otherwise, you should be able to reset the unit by disconnecting your vehicle's negative battery terminal for a minute, then re-connecting it.  I'm not certain this will work, but it costs nothing to try.

Good luck, and sorry I can't be more helpful.
