Car Stereos: 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, dimmer circuit, pontiac grand am

Question
Hello,
I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am that I was installing a stereo in and I already chopped the harness, shouldn't have, but it's too late now. I have all the stereo wires hooked up, and the accessory wire so that the dash lights will work. Now, the stereo only turns on when I have the head lights/dash lights on. The rest of the wires are just hanging, and I need to know where they go. Thanks for the help, Mike

Answer
Hi Mike.
You problem is that you've hooked accessories to the dimmer circuit.. it should be hooked to the accessories circuit.. on GM this wire will be yellow and only be energized when the ignition key is in the accessory and run position. If your deck has an illumination lead, that is what should be hooked to the illumination wire of the vehicle.
