Car Stereos: car stereo problem, jeep grand cherokee, jeep grand cherokee limited

Question
i have a 94 jeep grand Cherokee limited and i recently had to replace the battery alternator and ecm. since then my stereo has not been working. at first i thought it might just be the fuse because the radio wouldn't turn on at all, but i replaced the fuse and the radio will turn on but you cant hear anything. im trying to get an idea of what else the problem could be. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Hi Monique,

I'd go back to the fuses again.  A Grand Cherokee Limited should be equipped with an Infinity Gold audio system, which uses a factory amplifier mounted under the rear seat.  The amplifier should have its own fuse (in a vehicle fuse box, not at the amplifier location).  I'm not certain how it will be labeled in the fuse box, but if the amplifier fuse is blown, your factory radio will turn on and appear to be working but you won't hear any sound.

It's also possible that the factory amplifier is defective; but under the circumstances I'm betting that you just need to find and replace the factory amplifier fuse.

Hope this helps!
