Car Stereos: installing a aftermarket stereo, aftermarket stereo, door chimes

I just bought a alpine for my 04' silverado.  But just found out that i need a interface for the chimes.  So do i buy the wiring harness and the interface and how do i connect this?

Hi Erik,

Yea, you need the GM integration harness for your truck.  It will keep your door chimes, and interior light, and some other functionality provided by the factory deck that you would otherwise lose.

The bad news is these are a bit expensive (anywhere from $50-100).  The good news is that with one, you won't also need a harness, as the integration adapter provides the harness functionality too.

Make sure you get the right one, since it's different based on whether your vehicle has the factory bose system, and whether or not you have OnStar.

Installation instructions should come with the unit.  If you get stumped on anything, feel free to ask again.
