Car Stereos: srereo problem, aftermarket stereo, 2006 dodge ram

i purchased a new head unit for my dodge ram. i installed as showed, but i cannot get sound out of the speakers. i have hooked up other speakers and they played which told me the factory amp is not turning on when playing. how do i wire this so it will tun on?

Kevin,  I too have 2006 Dodge Ram.  I am going to be installing an aftermarket stereo in a couple of weeks, and I am sure I will be running into the same problem.  From what I know so far, the factory amp is not going to be operable, and will need to be bypassed.  Everything, I mean Everything, is run through the truck's computer, and the computer is what turns the amp on and off.  If your new stereo is not compatible (as most aftermarket stereos) with the computer, it is not going to tell it to turn the amp on.  I do know of a few guys who have made the switch, so I will ask them.  Actually, you can as well, it is Dodgetalk.com .  Let me know if you find an answer.  Otherwise, ask me in a couple of weeks, and I should know how to fix your problem exactly.  Good Luck, Scott
