Car Stereos: Subwoofers, 2005 toyota tundra, toyota tundra double cab

Question
QUESTION: Hi, Justin

So you think the duel 4ohm will hit pretty good at 900rms and 1800 max? And what Kind of amp wiring kit do you suggest and what gauge? I have an 2005 Toyota tundra double cab can you suggest a box that will fit under my seat for my selected subwoofer?

ANSWER: Hi Dylan,

Yes, 900 RMS will be plenty for an under-the-seat application.  For wiring kit, all that you need to be sure of is that you have at least 8 gauge (or thicker) power wire and a ground wire that is equal to or thicker than the gauge of the power wire.  As for a box, just visit your local stereo shop with your make model and some under-seat measurements, and they should be able to advise whether a box can be made that will adequately handle the sub.

QUESTION: Hey, do you know how to take the door paneel off of an 2005 toyota tundra double cab. I have two sets of Alpine Type X components that I would like to install. I do know the I will have to drill two holes in the back of the cab but my front already has two tweeters. Thanx

Answer
Hi Dylan,

I've never worked on a Tundra, but I do own a Toyota, and they tend to do things like this similarly.

There is usually a few screws in the door.  One or two in and/or around the handle and one in or around the door lock (sometimes behind a tiny plastic door).

Once all the screws are removed, there are usually white clips that hold the door panel on the door.  They just pop out with a little force (a clip remover is ideal, but if not, wrap a cloth around a flat-headed screwdriver, and pop them out that way.)

Once all of the clips are removed, the panel should shift upwards, and off.

Be careful not to pull/break any wires going to your window actuator and/or door locks.
