Car Stereos: Car System, khz tone, amplifier manufacturers

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have decided to go with the polk db12 dual 12 inch subwoofer (seen Here) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-u5IzgBeSyGf/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=107DB2122&s=0&cc

and I wanted to know what would be the best two amps to run with these subs at good quality and an affordable price....

I have already installed after market pioneer speakers and an alpine headunit

Thank You

Also will the Power Acoustik new gothic series 0v2-1800 amp work to run the subs? and what is your overall opinion on them?

ANSWER: Picking power is as intimate as picking underwear.. the days have long past where Mom picks it for you.. you have to decide how much money you want to spend on power, then get as much as you can afford. Honestly, you can never really have too much power...the real trick to keeping subs from blowing up or speaker from checking out is making sure you have enough power to keep the system from clipping (the point where the amp can no longer make the power cleanly)
I have never been hugely brand loyal to anything so you won't ever hear me making recommendations as to what brand is best. I have no problem telling you about product lines that have not performed well for me or my clients, but I will never tell you which amp to go buy. Decide how much money you want to spend, pull out a set of reference discs that you know well.. and let your ears tell YOU what's good...not me, not a salesman, not your buddy...
I have had no complaints with the Power Acoustic lines other than it felt like they play the "my amp has more wattage than yours" game.. In many cases amplifier manufacturers release grossly inflated numbers which are fudged by using unrealistic impedance loads or even measuring output at 1 Khz.. who ever listens to a 1 Khz tone???
Let your ears decide first, then your eyes can read specs later. Your wallet will dictate your limits from there.

QUESTION: ok so if i do buy this amp it should play fine with the subs? or will it crap the bed sort of speak?

Answer
Go to the store that sells it with some of your discs, and listen to it... pound the snot out of it in the store...Have the sales guy hook up a pair of similiar subs and crank it... hold it at high volumes for a bit.. (most decent shops have sound rooms so you can do this)
Lastly, ask about the return policy on it if you find you don't like it, or if it blows up.
Sorry if it feels vague again, but I really can't/won't TELL you what to buy...I have had NO bad experiences with them, but that being said, I've haven't installed enough of them to give them a positive review either.
