Car Stereos: cavalier rear speakers, rear speakers, seat bottom

Question
How do you remove a fixed rear seat back from a cavalier?

Answer
Dave,

Normally, you do not have to remove the seatback to remove the rear speakers.  The rear speakers should be accessible through the trunk, or by removing the rear deck panel out of the rear window.  However, If you do want to remove the seatback, Usually the seat is removed first.  Stick your hand in between the seat and the seatback, pull up on the seat from one side to the other.  Once it is about 3/4 the way out, you must push the front of the seat back to unlatch it from the floor.  Once it is unlatched, it should just pop right out.  Once the seat bottom is removed, you can see how the seatback is attached.  Sometimes there are a couple of screws holding the bottom of the seatback in place, sometimes it is a bracket holding it in place.  After the screws or bracket is removed, then the seatback should lift stright up to unlatch from the back, then comes right out.  Hope this helps, Scott
