Car Stereos: Radio doesnt have sound, speaker wire, grommet

Hi, my car stereo doesn't sounds, but when I open the door I can hear it, but when I close it, it goes mute again, what could it be?

Hi Bryan,

If closing the door makes the stereo stop working, you probably have a short or a frayed wire in the grommet that connects the door wiring to the car.  When it's closed, it shorts on metal, and the deck goes into protect mode.

I'd strongly advise leaving your deck OFF until you get it fixed lest you damage the deck.

The easiest thing to do is to just run fresh new speaker wire from the back of the deck into that door to the speaker.
