Car Stereos: kenwood 7202 amp, two subs, bridged mode

Question
I have a kenwood 7202 amp bridged to 2 kenwood 12's. I have a problem when i go to connect the power control wire to the amp, the light flashes and you can hear a audible viberating sound and the fan starts running. The amp is set to mono. what is the problem.

Answer
Dave,

I don't know if it's the cause of your problem, but if you have two subs connected to your amp in bridged mode, the impedance is probably too low for the amp.  Your amp is rated for a minimum 4-ohm impedance when bridged.  If your Kenwood subs are 4-ohm (as most Kenwood subs are) then the total impedance at the amplifier is 2 ohms, which is lower than it can tolerate.

I'd try re-wiring your subs so that each sub is connected to one channel.  If it's still not working after that, then your amplifier may have an internal problem.
